'25MPH - Video Essay and MPC

The '25MPH MPC is a recap of the year 2025. It is my third time doing a yearly recap that consists of photos I've taken. The first year this started was 2023 with the '23MPC. That catalogue was separated from January, February, March and April; and the rest of the year culminated into a project named '23Cont'd. The second year, I named the project 4Fun for the year 2024. The 4Fun MPC was the first time I decided to outline a theme for the project, in an effort to create cohesion.

With '25MPH, the theme of the project was passion and hitting the road--working. With the 2025 MPC, I wanted to outline my desire to be a videographer and provide insight into the passion I have for creating. With the project, I also intended to outline my method of passion, which was hitting the road. During the year of '25, I pledged to travel for a better variety of photos to dress the catalogue. Although my reason for traveling pertained to the catalogue, along that road was work, and ultimately, my passion transitioned to the jobs I received during the year.

Something new I started with '25MPH was the video essay. With every catalogue in the past, videos were always associated, but the main event was always the catalogue. This year, however, I decided to speak more and create a catalogue of images instead of adding copy, compared to previous projects.

The Video Essay was separated into four parts for each quarter of the year, documenting the places I visited, the scenery I captured, and an explanation of the project. Even though I plan to continue working on the catalogues with the workflow developed in '25, images will still be available for purchase as prints. The catalogues will still be created, but tagged with the video essay.

I believe the video essay allows me to express my ideas in a more organized fashion. I never wanted to be on camera, which is why everything started with still images. However, video adds an authentic element to recapping a year.
