Augmented Destiny and 4/20?

What do Augmented Destiny and 4/20 have in common?

If you've read the Augmented Destiny stories or are privy to the artwork related to the series you'd know a common trope is the blue lotus, but also flowers. In the series plants play an important role, from being a key ingredient to the issues with HRAD, or with Lilo being forced to garden during her adolescence. The story frequently brings up flowers.

While writing the story I decided to use the flower trope because of its association with women, beauty, and life. Another them of the story is perfection; a flower is beautiful, but only beautiful to the beholder, in my opinion almost like perfection. Flowers also represent humanity, flowers have associations to many religions and even their own emblematic significance.

Floranymph's Nectar

The Floranymph is the flower that Lilo used Ronda's lighthouse to find. This flower grows in a soapy enviornment and releases a metal nectar--the lightest conductive metal in the universe. The Nectar's pungent smell, conductivity, and versatility made it the best option to prevent the two spectrums--Alpha and Beta--from interacting.

Although the Floranymph seemed to be Lilo's best option in stopping the platform she could not use it because of the day it bloomed. The Nectar bloomed once a year on April, 20th. This of course correlates to the cannabis holiday, but it also is related to something of antiquity.

Spring is always considered the time for renewel, almost every culture in the past celebrated the time Winter ended. One particular story that caught my interest, and influenced the date for the Folranymphs bloom is the goddess of greek culture, Flora. This festival would fall between late April and early May. 4/20 in its own right is also a celebration of spring and resurgence, a holiday for a recreational substance but through history a tradition, with a name change.

Thanks to stories of the past, and stories of the present, 4/20 also became the day the Floranymph's Nectar blooms.
