Augmented Destiny is my first completed short story series. It is a three-part series: Augmented Destiny: HRAD, Augmented Destiny: Flawed, and Augmented Destiny: Retribution, respectively. Each story follows Lilo Manhattan, a brilliant woman capable of creating fictional tech in an evolved world. She is highly respected in the Tech Capitol of the World, her homeland--Alexandria. During her adventure, Lilo must reckon with the wreckage in her country caused by a demented Augmented device capable of destroying the Earth. Lilo, at one point, wanted to perfect a system that many thought to be flawless. Now she traverses to save the planet from a situation that could become as dire as their circumstances from fifty years ago.
Background
In the year 2324, nearly fifty years before Lilo's story takes place, civilization came close to extinction. Radiation and a devastating polar magnetic field infected the oceans, seas, rivers, and lakes. The rattling effects procured a magnanimous Pangaea, creating two new continents--Genesis and Grassier--and a gulf of scientific wonders--the Gulf of Creation. For twenty years, society was plagued by deadly phenomena from the radiation.
Philosophers would come to humanity's rescue and provide an ember of light during the Blackout era — the first two years of the Gulf of Creation. After this period, the World would begin to heal, and the Unification Era would commence once the World Union was formed and new territories were recognized.
At the start of the Unification Era, a new linear timeline was instated. This linear system counted the millennia and years backwards and in fractions. At the time of Lilo's story, it is year 35 of the Whole Millenia, 35WM, and Alexandria was dedicated as the world's tech hub in the year 10WM after the world delegates felt it safer to keep science monitored and in one land to prevent another catastrophe. Although the world could never conclude what caused the rise of the Gulf of Creation, science was always blamed because of the impetuous terror that reigned in 2324.
